'73 was the year of the Super Jeep! For 1973, difficulties with their alloy wheel supplier led to a temporary shortage for AMCās Jeep division. With a surplus of steel wheels in hand, Jeep decided to incentivize sales for the CJ-5s with the less desirable rollers. AMC paired unique paint schemes with matching interiors for a limited-run appearance package. This project was dubbed 'Super Jeep'.

Once their supply chain was restored, the Super Jeep was completely abandoned. In the end, AMC only produced around 300 Super Jeeps; this includes another very small batch from 1976, when AMC revisited the concept... albeit briefly. With such a unique and very limited run, the Super Jeep has blossomed into one of the most sought after of all the collector Jeeps.
